This book is, essentially, the father of financial independence books and blogs, for an excellent summary (in English) visit <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/vickirobin.com\/books\/summary-of-your-money-or-your-life\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Vicki Robin&rsquo;s website<\/span><\/a><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"> . Briefly, one of the crucial steps in the book explains the importance of knowing where your money goes and therefore, your life energy (the term used in the book to describe our share of time here on Earth).<\/span><\/span><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: none !important; margin: 0px !important;\" src=\"\/\/ir-ca.amazon-adsystem.com\/e\/ir?t=modestmilli0d-20&amp;l=am2&amp;o=15&amp;a=2893814220\" alt=\"\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">So I highly recommend tracking your spending over the course of a month. Il faut toutefois venir ajouter \u00e0 ce montant le temps associ\u00e9 \u00e0 ses d\u00e9penses. La premi\u00e8re partie est, \u00e9videmment, le temps qu\u2019il faut pour g\u00e9n\u00e9rer l\u2019argent pour faire ses d\u00e9penses, ensuite le temps pass\u00e9 \u00e0 magasiner l\u2019achat puis tout autre temps de votre vie qui sera associ\u00e9 \u00e0 ce que vous venez d\u2019acheter pour que ce soit de l\u2019entretenir, l\u2019assembler ou simplement pour pouvoir en profiter.<\/p>\n<p>Dans \u2018\u2019Your money or your Life\u2019\u2019 on en vient \u00e0 calculer son r\u00e9el salaire horaire, c\u2019est-\u00e0-dire qu\u2019on r\u00e9duit son salaire par tous les co\u00fbts associ\u00e9s \u00e0 faire son travail (v\u00eatements express\u00e9ment pour travailler, transport, etc.) et on divise se nouveau montant par ses heures de travail et \u00e9galement toutes les heures indirectements reli\u00e9es au travail (transport, d\u00eener, ventiler au retour). On peut ensuite traduire ce nouveau salaire horaire en terme de temps, appel\u00e9 \u00e9nergie vitale. Par exemple une personne qui arrive \u00e0 un r\u00e9el salaire horaire de 8$\/heures doit d\u00e9di\u00e9e 15 minutes de son \u00e9nergie vitale \u00e0 son travail pour chaque d\u00e9pense de 2$.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-359 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/www.modestmillionaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/justice-423446_1920-1-e1492256534730-300x266.jpg\" alt=\"time money balance\" width=\"300\" height=\"266\" \/>Une des \u00e9tapes importante du livre est d\u2019inscrire dans son tableau de suivi de d\u00e9pense, le co\u00fbt de chaque achat ou cat\u00e9gorie d\u2019achats en terme de nombre d\u2019heure d\u2019\u00e9nergie vitale, c\u2019est-\u00e0-dire de diviser la d\u00e9pense en dollars par notre r\u00e9el salaire horaire pour avoir le nombre de temps qui doit \u00eatre d\u00e9di\u00e9 au travail pour pouvoir faire cet achat. On demande ensuite de se poser les questions suivant<i>e: <\/i><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><i>Est-ce que j\u2019ai re\u00e7u une satisfaction et une valeur en proportion de l\u2019\u00e9nergie vitale d\u00e9pens\u00e9e?<\/i><\/li>\n<li>Est-ce que cette d\u00e9pense d\u2019\u00e9nergie vitale est en accord avec mes valeurs de base et les objectifs de ma vie?<\/li>\n<li>Est-ce que ces d\u00e9penses changeraient si je n\u2019avais pas \u00e0 travailler pour vivre?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Ces questions et ce processus aident \u00e0 mieux analyser ses habitudes de d\u00e9penses en fonction non seulement de ses valeurs et objectifs de vie, mais \u00e9galement en fonction de son temps. On en vient \u00e0 prendre conscience du co\u00fbt r\u00e9el de nos achats.<\/p>\n<p>Je crois ensuite qu\u2019il est important de faire l\u2019exercice de r\u00e9fl\u00e9chir \u00e0 si chaque d\u00e9pense engendre encore plus de d\u00e9penses \u00e0 long terme en terme d\u2019\u00e9nergie vitale. Pour faire ceci posez-vous les questions suivantes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Combien de temps avez-vous pris pour faire l\u2019achat (recherches, d\u00e9placement en magasin, etc.)?<\/li>\n<li><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Does this purchase require additional time or expense to maintain, assemble, or enjoy the purchase?<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">What is the approximate new cost in terms of vital energy of this purchase if we take into account this additional time linked to it?<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">A fairly significant example to better understand this process is that of buying a house. You will spend a lot of time to make this purchase and this is normal since the impact of this decision is very important. If you choose a larger house, it will have a high selling price but will also cost more to heat, since it requires heating a larger area and will also require a greater expenditure in terms of time to maintain it.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">The true cost of a purchase can therefore turn out to be even more significant in terms of its vital energy and consequently in terms of the number of hours you will have to work to be able to pay all its additional expenses.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Simplicity as a solution:<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/h3>\n<p><em><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">For the Modest Millionaires<\/span><\/span><\/em><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"> family <\/span><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">, the solution to this cycle of exponential spending is simplicity in terms of having less stuff, fewer recurring expenses, and fewer activities on the calendar to ultimately focus on the values \u200b\u200band life goals that are truly important to us.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-356 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/www.modestmillionaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/balance-2108024_1920-1-e1492256607315-300x208.jpg\" alt=\"Simplicity Less is More\" width=\"300\" height=\"208\" \/><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Our priorities are primarily focused on spending time with family and friends, learning and pursuing our passions, and most importantly, having the freedom to spend our time as we see fit on the priorities listed above. These are priorities that can be met without having to spend a lot of money.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Indeed, by focusing on our values \u200b\u200band life goals, we easily eliminate the desire to make purchases that would give us a small short-term pleasure but which would contradict our priorities. For example, it is easy for us to refuse to subscribe to cable since this additional expense would distance us from our financial independence which would offer us enormous freedom to devote our time as we see fit to what is important to us.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Having fewer activities on the calendar also falls into the same line of thinking. We have nothing against signing our children up for, say, a sports activity here and there, but we want to avoid having a dozen activities overlapping at the same time of year.
