Furthermore, although we are on track to achieve <\/span><\/span>financial independence by 2025<\/span><\/span><\/a> , we still have a good 5-6 years of depending on our jobs, so we might as well acquire knowledge and tools that can help us perform better and generally make our workdays more enjoyable.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Indeed, in <\/span><\/span>his interview with Mad Fientist<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span> , author Cal Newport, who wrote, among other excellent books,\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>So Good They Can’t Ignore You,<\/span><\/span><\/a>\"\" \u00a0explains how the standard recommendation of \u00ab\u00a0follow your passion and you will be happy\u00a0\u00bb is wrong. According to his research, people manage to get more pleasure and be happy when they become good at something because it allows them to acquire autonomy, skills and then to feel connected and valued by the people around them. So, what better way to become better at doing my job than to optimize the training programs offered by my employer.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

An overview of the application of a course<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/h4>\n

\"OptimizingI have taken the perspective that these courses can enrich not only my role in my current job but also any <\/span><\/span>entrepreneurial project<\/span><\/span><\/a> \u00a0that I undertake during the trajectory or even when I have reached financial independence.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I started by taking some planning and organization courses. The usefulness of such courses is easily justified for my work as a financial analyst, for example, to effectively manage a high level of information and files. I then took a course aimed at developing the management of difficult behaviors in the workplace. Given that part of my job is related to complaint management, I sometimes have to deal with difficult behaviors, so the course is very applicable to my job. However, the usefulness goes far beyond that since in everyday life we \u200b\u200bencounter difficult behaviors.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Bref, en ayant une vue d\u2019ensemble de mes int\u00e9r\u00eats et objectifs, j\u2019ai \u00e9t\u00e9 en mesure de me d\u00e9velopper une liste assez compl\u00e8te de type de cours que j\u2019aimerais prendre dans les prochaines ann\u00e9es. Ma liste de cours \u00e0 venir comprend des ateliers d\u2019enrichissement sur l\u2019\u00e9criture, la communication, n\u00e9gociation et plusieurs autres cours que j’ai bien h\u00e2te de suivre. Une belle vari\u00e9t\u00e9 de sujets qui peuvent am\u00e9liorer ma capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 faire mon travail mais \u00e9galement mes capacit\u00e9s \u00e0 accomplir toutes sortes de t\u00e2ches associ\u00e9es \u00e0 g\u00e9n\u00e9rer de l\u2019argent par l\u2019entremise d\u2019activit\u00e9s entrepreneuriales<\/a>. De plus, certains de ces cours seront aussi utiles dans la vie de tous les jours tout en m\u2019aidant \u00e0 acqu\u00e9rir des comp\u00e9tences en lien avec certains de mes passe-temps tels que l\u2019\u00e9criture de ce blogue. <\/span><\/p>\n

Opter pour des cours de qualit\u00e9<\/span><\/h4>\n

Apr\u00e8s avoir suivi ce cours que j\u2019ai grandement appr\u00e9ci\u00e9 surtout gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 la vari\u00e9t\u00e9 des connaissances partag\u00e9es mais \u00e9galement gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 la performance de l\u2019enseignante donnant le cours, j\u2019ai effectu\u00e9 des recherches afin de d\u00e9couvrir les autres cours et ateliers offerts par cette m\u00eame enseignante. J\u2019ai ainsi trouv\u00e9 un excellent cours concernant la gestion du temps qui m\u2019a d\u2019ailleurs beaucoup servi dans la poursuite de mes activit\u00e9s entrepreneurial les soirs et fin de semaines. En guise de boni, cette enseignante vie de diverses activit\u00e9es entrepreneuriales donc c\u2019\u00e9tait vraiment int\u00e9ressant de l\u2019entendre raconter ses propres exp\u00e9riences!<\/span><\/p>\n

\"OptimizingThere’s nothing stopping you from being innovative and finding a completely different course and then selling it to your employer. In this case, I recommend gathering the good testimonials you’ve found and then clearly presenting your reasons for wanting to take the course. Specifically explain how taking the course will give you an advantage and tools to better perform your job.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Some employers are even willing to pay for longer-term certifications like CPAs and part-time master’s degrees for their employees. Find out if this is something you’re interested in, as you can save a lot of money doing so! There are also sometimes back-to-school bonuses, so keep an eye out for various employer initiatives.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Review the documents received after the training session<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/h4>\n

\"OptimizingWhen I finish a class, I always take some time to review and organize the information and notes I took during the class. I recycle what I won’t need anymore, organize the notes I’ll keep, and digitize what’s more cumbersome. This way, I know where to find the information if I need it in the future, and this step also helps me better absorb the information given in the class.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Benefits of being involved in optimizing the training offered by your employer<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/h4>\n

Ultimately, when our reasoning for choosing to take a course is well thought out, it’s quite surprising to see the extent of the knowledge we acquire.
